Raloid Corporation is a Reisterstown, Maryland company with a proven track record over the decades of meeting the advanced manufacturing and system assembly needs of military and aeronautics contractors. Among the companies Raloid Corporation has collaborated with on projects is Lockheed Martin, which was the focus of a recent TechCrunch article on its $200 million early-stage venture capital fund.
With the traditional approach being centered on Lockheed’s in-house VC fund seeking out late-stage companies with mature technologies, an increasing focus is on identifying leading-edge technologies with the potential to grow. This is made possible through an organizational structure in which internal business units are in regular contact with management in identifying challenges and improvements that do not present internal sourcing or existing-vendor solutions.
A particular emphasis of ‘Emerging Technologies Funds” investments is commercial tech applications that have dual-use aerospace capabilities. The fund was established in 2007, and $80 million has been returned on $100 million invested in the first decade. With an “evergreen” structure in place, the fund exclusively invests generated returns in next-generation startups within the venture wing.
